Cliff Duncan

Preacher, Minister of Music, Praise and Worship Leader, Creative Arts Director, Music Teacher, Songwriter, Performing Artist and Actor

Cliff Duncan began his public singing career by singing his first solo at St. John Baptist Church when he was three years old.  His parents started him in piano lessons at the age of four.

Cliff is a graduate of the “High School of the Performing and Visual Arts” in Houston Texas, where he majored in vocal music and minored in drama/acting.

His experience as a vocalist included extensive training and concentration in choral music, ensemble, 16th and 17th century madrigals, Jazz, Pop, Classic, Standards, Quartet and “acapella’’ forms of music.  As a musician, he has excelled in music theory and sight reading.  He has also been endowed with the natural gift of playing music by ear.

Cliff not only gained accolades in music, he has gained acclaim as an actor.  As a student of a specialized entertainment school, he won twelve acting awards which included six first place awards.  His acting experience and training includes work in humorous and dramatic interpretations, poetry, impromptu, duet and ensemble acting roles.  This performance training greatly aided and added to the fertilization of Cliff’s natural talent of expression.

In 1976, he graduated with the “Most Outstanding Musicianship” award from the High School of the Performing and Visual Arts.

He was awarded a full vocal scholarship at Columbia College in Missouri.  As freshman, he exemplified his rounded talent as he joined the basketball team, won both the spring and fall talent shows, and became the main keyboard chair in the varsity Jazz Ensemble and composed several musical scores for original plays written by the College Drama students. Cliff was awarded the “Mr. Columbia College”, “Most Talented”, “Best Dancer” and the “Most Likely to Succeed” awards.

Cliff then embarked upon his professional music career as a performer and leader for the next 15 years.  He toured the country performing for military bases, private corporations, and very many club/concert dates.  He wrote, composed, performed and released four records on his own label and opened for several major recording artists.
